convert handwriting to text and mouse

Hi, everyone

I can't use "convert handwriting to text" when I try write any word using my
mouse. Is this is normal or something is wrong with my OneNote?

I do this like that:
1. Click pan
2. Write word
3. Select this word and click "Treat selected ink as" and "handwriting"
(menu Tools)
4. Now I click "convert handwriting to text" but the word still look like
writing word, not like type word.

Can I use this tool only with electronic pan?

Are you on a Tablet PC or a normal desktop/laptop? The handwriting
recognition features in OneNote are based on the Tablet PC's Ink features and
therefore only work when OneNote is run on a Tablet PC.

I'll concede that the menu items are misleading in that they do seem to lead
a lot of users to believe that this feature is present when it's not.
