Convert into PowerPoint Autoshapes

Hey there.

I want to convert some visio 2002 diagrams into
PowerPoint. I can copy and paste but when I do that the
whole diagram comes across as one shape, so users can't
select boxes or connectors separately. If I ungroup the
diagram then it creates a million shapes out of
everything -- complete dog's breakfast

I need people to be able to maintain the diagrams in
PowerPoint without launching Visio. Is this possible?

Actually, some of the shapes *should* be able to more or less go back and
forth-- even if some data is lost. Org chart shapes, for example.

I had a need on a former project to convert a Powerpoint presentation to
Visio because PP couldn't handle the scope and it should have been done in
Visio to begin with. Boggled my mind at the time that there was no PP
import in Visio. Still does.

Well, I'm a process change consultant in my dept. Like org
chart shapes, workflow shapes have direct correspondents
in PowerPoint. There is no reason for the whole group to
pay for Visio, I just need them to be able to maintain
their process charts once I've left. You can do basic
workflow charts in PP that will be good enough for them.

So is it possible?

It's not currently possible.

However, I did pester the Visio guys during the Visio 2003 beta about this
need and I got the idea they agreed. Hopefully this data exchange ability
will show up in the next version.

I said this long ago when Visio was Visio and not MS: Why not give Visio the
ability to run it's own slide show like Powerpoint. It makes the perfect sense.
Visio is a graphics/business software. I would think that most of the things
done with Visio is intended for business applications with groups of people in
mind. The ability to work and display the work in one program only make
sense...but then again we are talking about Microsoft.

Visio can run a slideshow if you go into full screen mode (press F5), then
use the Page Up & Page Down buttons to change pages.
