Convert linked pictures to embedded in Word 2002

I work with large documents that get emailed around the country for revision.
I need to keep the document as small as possible so the pictures (at least
60) are inserted as "Linked". When all the revisions are completed, can I
convert the links to embedded. I saw a related comment by Bob Jones in a
previous post, but I have not been able to do this myself.
