convert number to words

I need to convert the following:
$123.00 to One hundred twenty three dollars. I plan to use this in a
contract. I recently attended a Crystal Reports class and learned about the
"totext" function in Crystal. Does office have a similar function?

Try entering -- Replace text -- in Word Help.

Hi, laurie. The answer depends on what part of Office you're talking about.
In Word, I don't think there is an automatic way to convert numbers to words.
But in Excel, yes there is a way to do this... see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=213360 "XL2000: How to Convert a Numeric
Value into English Words" (should work in later versions of Excel too).
Also, you can try the free add-in MOREFUNC-DLL for Excel at
http://longre.free.fr, which includes a user-defined function that does this
conversion in several languages.
