Convert tabbed text to a Word Table?

Word 2000.

How do I convert tabbed text to a Word Table?

I have a two-column "table" (created by someone else) which consists
of simple paragraph text with the "columns" separated by a tab
character. The document is large and I want to convert it to an MS
Word Table so that I can perform a search that is limited to the text
in Column A of the Word Table. (I know how to perform the limited
search)

Thanks for any help.

Select the text, and click Table > Convert > Text to Table. In the dialog,
make sure "tab" is selected as the separator and that the number of columns
is what you expect. Then click OK.
