Convert text to graphics (.gif & .jpg)

Patrick

Hello:

I have Office 2003 including FrontPage 2003. I have been trying to convert
text to graphics with little to no success. I have tried Paint but did not
get acceptable results. Where in the Office 2003 suite of programs,
including FrontPage, can I convert text to graphics. For example, if I were
to enter some text into Word and Copied it, where can I Paste it to convert
it to a .gif or .jpg file? I would like to be able to use large special
fonts and convert them to a graphic (.gif or .jpg) so I can publish them to
my website in order to keep the fonts becoming a default fonts on someone's
computer that does NOT have these special font!

The sad part is that I have done this in the past, long ago, and I simply
can NOT remember how I did it?

If it can NOT be accomplished in Office 2003 or FrontPage 2003, do you know
of a simple, inexpensive piece of software that will do the trick?

Thanks again,

Patrick

Bob, thanks for the positive suggestion. As I mentioned, I tried Paint and
"Saved As," but the quality suffered. While the end result in PowerPoint
should be of high quality.

Thanks, I truely appreciate the quick and useful reply!

As I mentioned, the reason I contacted Newgroups was for a specific solution
-- do you, by chance, have a specific recommendation, especially an
inexpensive little piece of software in mind, that is created and sold in the
US? I was in hopes that you would be knowledgeable of Microsoft's offerings
and have a solution that was within the Office/FrontPage 2003 suite?

Others have suggested ways to turn the text into graphics.
Here's one more. Download ScreenHunter 5 Free from
Wisdom-Soft at
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/downloads/downloadfiles.htm
(watch URL wrap). This program allows you to highlight and
automatically save an autoincrementing named graphic file
from whatever is showing on the screen. I have been using
the earlier version (4) for some time now and it really
works great. Very small learning curve to use. Set the
program to save a file and to allow you to select a
rectangular area.

Start ANY program after you have started this program and
set your default saving folder. Type in the text you want
to convert to a graphic in the size you want. Press the hot
key and drag the mouse over the screen. The file created is
your new graphic file that you can rename or do anything you
want with it.

I'd use PowerPoint. Type the text, format it, right-click the textbox and
Save As Picture.

Heh, yeah. ;-) But it is a quick, easy way to save text and drawings as
images. I don't think Word has the same capability, but maybe it does.

Regardless, at least the poster found something that will meet his needs.

If that's what you were after, you could have simply pressed Printscreen
button, Opened Microsoft Office Picture Manager, select Edit, Paste, and
then the Picture would be placed there. Now select your "New
Picture.BMP" file, click File, Export, and pick your file type. And
there you go.

Newsgroups' experts have done it again!
Thanks for all of the ideas and answers!
Now I have several options and solutions!

L

LVTravel

I try to use the easiest procedure to get a job done, as I
believe in the KISS principle (I'm a teacher and KISS to me
means "Keep It Simple Students".) I will use a free non-MS
program to do a job. As BobI said in a later post, the OP
could have hit the printscreen button and pasted into any
graphic program. This isn't the easiest way to do it since
the OP would have had to resize, crop and save the image.
The program I recommended is free and can capture just part
of the screen (what the OP highlights) to a file and/or the
clipboard They also have a free program that will capture
screen motion (as Camtasia does) but it isn't as good as
some other costly programs. For some of the things I do, it
works well.
