Convert text to number

Whenever I paste data into Excel from Access it is pasted
as text. I then have to convert this data from text to
numeric values so Excel can operate on the data.

I didn't have to do this extra conversion step in Excel
2000, is there a way to remove this so that it defaults
to the way Excel 2000 recognized pasted data?

Here are a couple of things to try. They are based on
answers I have seen in this panel discussion.
1. Try formatting the cells where you are pasting the
info as a "number". (If the cells are formatted as text,
when you paste, then it is text)

2. If this doesn't work, try highlighting the offending
cells and click on DATA | TEXT TO COLUMNS and
choosing 'general'

Hope this helps!
