Convert user interface of 2007 to the old 2003 or XP interface?

I have used Office for about 8 years. I'm pretty proficient at using the
menus in Word and Excel and rely on keyboard shortcuts a great deal. I'm very
used to where the commands are in the previous menus. I can't say how much I
resent having to completely learn where everything is in 2007, and when I
recently bought a new computer the only option for buying Office was the 2007
version.

Does anyone know if there's a way to set it to have a 2003 interface with
the menus I'm used to? I'm hoping one of the online retailers has copies of
2003, because I'm pretty sure it will be worth whatever I pay to replace 2007
with the 2003 version.

The keyboard shortcuts are pretty much the same.

The simplest way to cope is to put the things you use a lot on the
Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) and set it below the Ribbon. Right-click on
any item on the Ribbon to choose to add it to the QAT; for all the old
familiar commands that aren't on the Ribbon, right-click on the QAT,
choose Customize > Commands Not On The Ribbon, and move them over.
Then arrange them in a comfortable order.

Then double-click on any tab on the Ribbon and you can almost forget
it's there.

You can add the menus with http://ribboncustomizer.com/ but it won't turn
the interface to that of Word 2003. 2007 is how it is, like it or loathe it.
I assume that you have a trial version of 2007 included with your new PC
which will expire before too long. If not return Office 2007 for a refund.
You can still find resellers who have 2003, though they are getting thin on
the ground or if the old PC has been scrapped you could install the version
you had there (unless it was an OEM version) - you will probably have to
activate it by telephone should you do so.

Or you could take the time to find your way around the new interface as the
ribbon is the future.
