Convert Variance + to () & () to +

Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way to convert the results for
duration variance, start variance, finish variance, and work variance.
The conversion would be to make the existing result a negative number when
it's displayed as a positive and vice-versa.
I'm not a programer so please be detailed with any formulas.
Thanks for helping. :)

First of all, you cannot display how Project Server 2007 or Microsoft
Project 2007 display the variance fields. This means that if a project's
Finish date is 3 days late against the original Baseline Finish date, the
Finish Variance fields shows a positive 3 days. You can create custom
enterprise fields to show all five variance fields as negative values. For
example, use a custom enterprise Cost field with the following formula to
show Cost Variance as a negative number if the project is over budget:

- [Cost Variance]

If the project is under budget, the above formula returns a positive number.
Hope this helps.
