Convert Word 2000 mail merge documents to 2003

My formerly perfectly running Access 2000 db crashes constantly in 2003. I
think the problem is centered on the Word documents I call that are mail
merged to queries. Some of these queries pull from an ODBC table that is
linked into the database as well as some of the database's own tables. I use
no DAP or macros, but someone else owns the ODBC table and they do on their
end. The merged Word documents will run but sometimes I have to open them
twice before they will connect. What do I need to do to get things settled
down?
