Hi all,
I want to convert my old Word 4.0 files to Word 97 format.
For this I downloaded and installed the converter pack for
Office 2003 (works for Office 97 too). But the converter
for Word 4.0 for DOS did not appear though it should be in
the package. The file Doswrd32.cnv is missing.
What could be the reason ?
Thanks and Regards
Rudolf

I ran into Rudolph's problem, but need a different
converter (Rftdca32.cnv). I followed the same procedure
with Ork.exe, then Oconvpck.exe, and got the same result--
no new converters in \Program Files\...\TextConv\. Your
favourites page has three of the missing converters
available, but not rftdca.cnv. Is there another source
for that specific file? Thank you for the confirmation
that I'm not as daft as I feel, and thanks for any
direction you can give. JFF.

Thank you very much, Graham. It works like a charm, and I
had no difficulty downloading it from your site.

Is there an appropriate mechanism for requesting, or
reinforcing the need, that Microsoft fix this omission,
or installation bug, in the Office Converter Pack?

Thanks again,
JFF.

I don't think it is required for current Word versions - and those users of
97 (like yourself) who have only recently come upon the requirement to
access these ancient files are probably few. Microsoft claims the changes
have been made to address a security issue, but won't reveal what the
security issue was.
