Convert Word Range to HTMl

using automation (from C#) is it possible to get HTML from the range.
Currently we are doing this by copying to the clipboard and would like to
avoid it if possible

I don't think there is. From Word 2003 you can get the WordProcessingML,
which you could transform to HTML...
