Converted Word Documents

I inadvertantly converted numerous Word documents and don't know how I did it
or how to undo it!! My documents now all look like a bunch of squares and
symbols.

Can anyone please tell me (in the "Dummies" type answer) how I can undo this.

Well it sounds like you have corrupted all your documents. Did you copy them
to some type of removable media, which is the usual reason for corruptions?
