converters are not there

what to do

Every time I tried to open a picture from my pictures I get a mensage
sayin"workscanot open picture----.The file may be used by another
application, the file format may not be supported by any of the installed
converters or the file may be corrupted.I have restore the system but nothing
happened, will you help me please

Have you tried running setup to modify your installation to install the
graphic converters you need?
