Convertibility Issue between Windows Excel 2007 and Mac Excel 2008

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I have created a very extensive budget for my company in Windows Excel 2007 containing multiple tabs, hundreds of formulas, a few arrays, some conditional formatting, etc. A few of the individuals needing access to the file are running Mac Excel 2008. Unfortunately, whenever I try to send it to them, they are unable to open the file getting an error saying The file might have been modified or damaged from its original format. However, whenever i send it to another user of Windows office 2007 they can open it without any problems. Unfortunately I can't save it in Excel 2003 format because of formulas such as sumifs, multiple conditional formatting, etc. I have tried doing the following things to no avail:

Removing All Conditional Formatting
Removing all number, text formatting
Zipping the file before sending
Removing all Office Excel 2007 Graphs

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You shouldn¹t have to remove all that stuff. It should be compatible.
However, Excel 2008 does not have the same conditional format features as
Excel 2007, but this should not cause an error. If you still get the error
when all conditional formatting is removed, there may be some other internal
corruption that is causing the problem. What happens if you open it in
Windows Excel 2003?

When we try to open the base file it says there are too many cell formats. When it does eventually open in Windows Office 2003 it turns into a jumbled mess with zero formatting and information on the wrong tabs.

Thanks

So, if 2003 can¹t open it properly it does not seem to be an Excel 2008
issue. Have you tried to repair it? Or, have 2007 create a compatibility
report or save it in 2003 format?

Hi Phil, can you first make sure your Office 2008 is fully updated to 12.2.3? If yes, I'd be happy to investigate this issue if you can send me ([email protected]) a copy of your workbook. You can keep as much data as possible as long as the workbook you send me still repros the issue.

Thanks,
