Converting a PC Word Symbol to Mac Word Symbol

I wrote a novel on a PC in Word, converted it to Mac in Word, and everything comes out OK except one character on page 127. A Symbol like a U with a smaller u on top of it. It is from an old Native American language - a word I copied from a book: Tum-pe po-op. The 'u' after the T is the character I can't type or find in Word among the symbol set. It is there on the PC but not on the Mac. I don't want to change a published book, but I can't call this up without running the risk of saving the file with a box instead of this symbol right now. Does anyone know how to add to the symbol set?

How about Unicode 1570 ?? If not, send me a screen shot and I'll try to find it for you (tom at bluesky dot org).

Is this the character you mean: á•° ?

You can't add it to the set of Symbols in Word or anywhere else - a glyph is
either contained in a font or it isn't, and this is one that isn't available
in many. Use the OS X Character Palette to insert the character in place of
the regular "u". I found this in the Canadian Aboriginal set within North
American Scripts. If it isn't the right one you may be able to find what
you're looking for - everything available is there. This character is
Unicode: 1570, UTF8: E1 95 80.
