Converting Administrative project to Non_admin

I

ITG_Mike

We are running Project Server 2003. When we set up the system, we created an administrative project for non-project work (vacation, holiday, reserve duty, unpaid leave, etc.). After using the system for a while, we now believe that the annoyances with using an administrative project to track this time outweight the benefits when comapred to just using a regular project.

We do not want to lose any of the data we have entered to date in the administrative project. Is it possible for us to "convert" our admin project to non-admin?

There is not conversion utility for this. You will have
to do this work manually using the calendar functions in
project. Hope this helps

The anoyances we have found include

1) Can't hide Non-Project tasks that do not apply to you (like reserve duty for someone not in the reserves
2) When you view Resource Assignments, admin projects are group separately from regular projects under each resource. This creates two groups of projects for each indivicual resource
3) Odd information icons for admin tasks (I always get a note saying my vacation task was scheduled to be complete, but it is not yet completed)

In the end, Admin projects seem to provide little value (at least to us) in exchange for these quirks
