Converting an Excel 2002 file to 97 version

I've created an Excel file in 2002 and want to share it with users on 97 -
however, when I attempt to save the file in that format Excel crashes. Is
there a converter I can download? Or, is there a workaround?

Excel 97 uses the same file format as Excel 2002. Just save the file
normally and give it to them. Assuming that you have used no features
that were added since 97, they should have no problem.

Presumably you were trying to save in the "Excel 97-2002 & 5.0/95
Workbook (.xls)" which creates a much larger multiformat file. Why you
have problems doing that is not clear from what you have said. Possibly
not enough disk space, not enough memory, etc.

I have Excel 2002.I have used Excel but my question is:
How do I auto number my lines on a general form? I have a member list with
names and want Excel to number the lines.Tks for your time.
