I have been given an 11,000 line Excel spreadsheet
containing a list of phases, activities, tasks, and
subtasks, in which each line is indented one cell to the
right of its higher level predecessor. I am trying to
convert this into a Microsoft Project task sheet. If I
copy a set of lines, all of which are on the same level,
e.g. tasks, to the Project worksheet, Project accepts
them without any problem. If I try to copy a set with two
or more levels, e.g. tasks and subtasks, I get an error
message indicating an incorrect value or out-of-range
condition in the Duration column, the column to the
immediate right of the Task Name column.
I suspect that Project sees the values in the Excel sub-
task cells as incorrectly formatted Duration values. Does
anyone know how to copy and paste an entire Excel
spreadsheet with this kind of structure into a Project
task list?
