Converting DB from Access 2000 to 2003

Jason

I am an IT guy and I am having some issues with a user.
The issues that I am having is that I just installed 2003
in his machine. When he goes to open a converted DB from
2000 to 2003 he gets an error message saying

"This Database is in an unrecognized format.

The Database may have been created in a later version of
Microsft Office Access than the one you are using.
Upgrade your version of Microsft Office Access to the
current one, then upen this database."

The issue is that he is on the current version. He is the
person that converted it from 2000 to 2003. Any help
would be great.

Thanks
Jason

You bknow the only time that happens to me is if I try to
open a 2003 in 2000, which happens if I LAST used 2000 and
forget that if I double click on a database it will open
with the LAST USED version, hence the message. You might
want to check if that is the case.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the help with this. But I dont think that you fully understand the issue. I have installed 2003 on the machine so 2000 is no longer there. When I ran the program for installation I chose the upgrade. So 2000 in no longer installed on the machine. The user that is having the problem has converted the DB from 2000 to 2003 already and is experiencing the issue so I am not sure what we need to do in order to make this message go away. I had the user try to convert it back down to 2000 and then reconvert it to 2003 and the issue is still there. So it does not look like it is a conversion issue. We have also looked at locks and other things and all seems to be well with this as well. I have checked the registry for information about the mdb and mde files and all seems well with this also. Please let me know if there is anything else that can be tried. Thanks in advance for any help given.

I understood but I thought (since I didn't KNOW) that
perhaps 2000 was still on the machine, so I thought it
worth a mention...

Also, I note you say an .mde, which as far as I know you
cannot convert a 2000 mde file to 2003, you must convert
the original mdb then turn the converted mdb to a mde.

If you can't get the database open AT ALL, I would try
creating a new database and importing all the files into
it.

If you can get the database open check your references
(under Tools in the Code Window of any form or report).

And even though this applies to a lower version alot of
these issues still apply...

Hope something I typed helps, good luck!!!
