converting excel file from mac to windows

Hello,

I'm trying to convert a file from Excel X (Mac) to Excel 2003
(Windows). I copied the file to Windows, without saving it in any
particular format. The file opens OK in Windows, but loses the
worksheet tabs. I tried setting the Options to show worksheet tabs,
but it didn't work.

Is there an optimal way to save the file on the Mac to that it opens in
Windows with the tabs preserved?

Thank you.

Unless the file contains some sort of unusually complex structuring or code,
the only consideration is that the copy for the Win system should have a
..xls filename extension. There is no 'conversion' required, But see my note
below...

If you did just open the Mac file, select & copy so you could paste, the
odds are you only wound up copying only the one sheet in the first place.

Give this a try (unless this is how you did it);

Open the file on the Mac
Use File>Save As
Name the file as you wish & navigate to the appropriate location
*Make sure there is a check in the box to 'Append file extension'*
*Make sure the file Format is 'Excel Workbook *
Click the 'Compatibility Report...' button... Just to be safe
(If the report indicates a problem, post back with the details, otherwise -)
Click Save
Thank you.

There is no difference between the Mac and Windows formats. You should be
able to freely exchange the workbooks without doing anything special. Are
the tabs really missing, or is the window perhaps too big for the windows
machine and the tabs are "below" the edge of the window. Try selecting
Window-Arrange and select windows of active document. This should resize the
window so that tabs appear.

File formats are identical for XLv.X and XL03, so there's no conversion
necessary (or possible, really).

Have you tried resizing the window? Are the tabs hidden by the task bar?
What happens if you choose Windows/Arrange...?

Setting Options/View to show worksheet tabs has always worked for me.

Does this happen for all files, or just this one?
