converting footnotes to endnotes

List members,

The standard commands for converting footnotes to endnotes seem not
to work since I updated to Version 11.3 of Word. Would appreciate any
thoughts; thanks in advance. I may just have to recreate the whole
bibliography and insert endnotes with another program.
I'm running Mac OS 10.4.8.

Ms. Mitchell,

You're right - it's turned out to be easier to re-create the
references as an Endnote X library, then insert them manually. I think
the built-in Word commands for this purpose just don't work anymore.
Thank you. - Mark Pavlick

Hi Mark,

I'm glad you solved your issue, but--

Did you try it in a different document? Because CyberTaz got the built-in
commands to work in Word 11.3 and OS 10.4.8, so it's definitely not that
they "just don't work anymore," although certain conditions may be
interfering.

Second, I'm really confused about what you were doing--because Word creating
footnotes and endnotes and the program EndNote are totally separate. They
do not overlap in function. So I'm unclear on how EndNote helped you achieve
your goal?

Third, EndNote X is fairly new--the chances that it is interfering are not
miniscule, EndNote has before. If you hold down shift while launching Word,
no add-ins will load, and you can test whether the same thing happens in a
clean-ish Word setup.

If you care about chasing down the source of the problem. Not everyone
does. :)
