Converting from Windows Office 97 to 2003 or Higher

I need to upgrade my software for a distance learning course and b/c its out
dated anyway. Can I convert from 97 to 2003 or higher? What if I no longer
have the original software for 97? Also, is there any upgrade that I can get
online?

I appreciate your response.

You can upgrade from Office 97 to Office 2003, in the same edition, however,
to upgrade you would either have to have Office 97 installed, or have an
Office 97 installation CD in your possession for the Office 2003
installation to validate against.

In addition, Office 2003 does not run on Windows 9x, so you'd also need to
be running Windows 2000 or later.

You can purchase an Office 2003 upgrade edition online from microsoft.com at

Thank you so much. I have Office 97 already installed so I will purchase
2003. I appreciate your help!
