Converting messages and contacts

How can I convert all of my old Entourage 2004 messages and contacts
to a csv or to raw text files? I only want to have easy access to
very old emails. If I use a Spotlight search, I just want to view the
messages in a text file or open a database to view the message and/or
contact information. I always used text format for my incoming and
outgoing messages and never HTML. Is there an app that I can just
drag my Main Identity folder into it and Presto Chango...it is now all
in a format that I can read in text or in open in Excel or import into
Excel or Open Office database? Or even just TextEdit?

Well you could drag and drop to the desktop, or use the Export function
for the contacts.

You can drag and drop the e-mails to the Desktop to get stadnard .eml
files that can be opened in a text editor.

I found Emailchemy since I posted. It will convert all of the mail

Macs don't deal with the .csv format. You can save contacts as tab delimited
which will give you the same format.

Options:

1) EagleFiler from the author of SpamSieve is an option you might enjoy for
archiving older mail. EagleFiler <http://c-command.com/>

2) You can export your contacts as a tab delimited file and import into
Excel. In Entourage File > Export

3) You can export old mail and create a second Entourage Identity. You would
need to switch Identity to view the mail, but Spotlight would be able to see
those and tell you to switch.

Does it do a format that can be read by the Finder? MBOX files are good to
save mail, but you can't read them.
