Converting MS Works v4 to MS Word X

Greetings,

I movved a bunch of MS Works v4 files and MS Word v5 over to my new
iBook which is using MS Word X. All of those files are showing up as
unix files. Word X is able to open the older Word files (despite
looking like unix files) but Word X will not open the older Works
files. It asks me which program that I would like to use to open them
and when I choose MS Word it doesn't work.

If you know of a way to batch convert these files or just to convert
them one at a time I would greatly appreciate it.

It seems to me that Word X came with a Works 4.0 converter which required a
custom installation from the CD (that is, it wasn't automatically installed
by the installer, you had to specify it). I know that Word 98 does this
conversion perfectly under OS9. If you cannot locate the Works 4.0
converter for Word X, the alternative would be to buy MacLink Plus Deluxe,
which will also do the conversion (among many others).
