Dear Ronny,
thanks for your support. KB 831590 describes the
reinstallation of the web-components in case they have
been removed by an office update. My situation is
different: I have created the websites with the OWC from
Office 2000. Now many users outside the wourld just have a
new environment with Office 2003/XP. I tried just to
reinstall the webcomponents to their computer by using
the "Owcwp.exe" (version 2000) that are available from the
microsoft download center. After doing the installation
the web-components within the website still do not work. A
reinstallation with old office CD-ROM is not an option as
they do not have an old office version/licence. So I was
asking myself if there is the possibility to
update/upgrade/convert the web-components within the
website automatically.

OWC9 (from Office 2000) will run fine alongside Office 2003, but the default
installation of Office 2003 automatically uninstalls OWC9. Therefore, you
simply need to restore OWC9. See KB article 831590.
