Converting one type of Suite Trial to a different full version

I am a bit confused: I bought a laptop that had a trial version of Office
2007 Home & Student on it. The trial period is nearly up, and I want to buy a
complete version. However, I would prefer the Office 2007 Standard Suite
instead. How do I go about doing this? Can I do it online without having to
wait for a package to be delivered to my house? Will I need to download a
different suite and then activate it (and if so then how much will it cost
and how long to download)? Can you please let me know what I need to do (I am
not based in the US).

Buy the complete version NOW. You probably can buy it from Microsoft as a
download but we see countless posts from people who did just that and now
need to reinstall. No disks, nothing to reinstall with. Depending on where
you are located, you may prefer to purchase it from Amazon.com before your
trial expires. When you get the software, back up your files (better safe
than sorry), uninstall the trial, install the paid version.

Something to consider, Microsoft is currently running a sale on Office Small
Business. I'm not sure whether this will be of any value to you though - I'm
sure there are geographical limitations.

if you MUST do the download you can still get a backup cd copy at extra cost.
after you click the buynow button, microsoft site will give you an option to
choose among several "lockbox" options, including a physical cd copy.

but it's more expensive than just ordering the physical copy to begin with.

as mentioned there are terrific savings right now (thru iirc 30 sep 2008)
for office 2007 Small Business and also Home and Student.

i'm going through the same decisions, and discovered that while my laptop
came with the trail version of Home and Student 2007, it also has **
Microsoft Works 9, which lists as an upgrade qualifier ** -- saving big
bucks over getting the full version. if you can wait for the cd/dvd box to
be delivered, amazon will save you some money over the microsoft site, at
least in the states.

here's the ms office 2007 pricing page with qualifying products for upgrade:
