Converting Outlook 2003 PST Folder to Outlook 2000 PST.

Hi there,

I'm sorry... I've asked this question before but after hours of trying to
find my question (and its answer) I've decided It's simpler to re-post, so
hope no-one minds. Unfortunately I don't recall which MS newsgroup I posted
to, but I still can't find it.

I have Outlook 2000 on one computer and 2003 on another. How can I import a
PST file created in Outlook 2003 and open it in Outlook 2000?

If you can give step-by-step information that would help me out. The major
file (3+ GB) is located on a different system, so it has to be imported
probably to Outlook 2003 first. Can you confirm this?

Sorry to ask twice. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks so much!

1) You *never* Import a pst into outlook. Within OL File>Open>Data
File........browse to pst
2) OL2k cannot read an OL2003 format (unicode) pst
3) Within OL2003 File>New>Data File> Outlook 97-2002 pst File, Copy data
from original file to this. Close the new pst, then copy to the OL2k sys. Do
not overwrite any existing pst. Then open it in OL2k
4) An OL2k pst has a size limitation of 2gb although problems can occur
above 1.6gb. Therefore if you are using an OL2003 pst of 3gb you would
likely have to create 3 OL2k pst's
5) If copying a pst via cd, you have to ensure that the read only flag of
the pst is off, when its finally copied to the HD

PS Do you use the Archive option?

Hi again,

Maybe I'm missing something here, in which case I hope someone can help me
out. I am using the Archive option so that I may move my older e-mails to a
different drive. However, if I do this with an individual folder then the
archive stops at 265 kb. I've tried this on a few different folders, all
with the same result.

Am I doing something wrong? I assume it is possible to select a folder and
archive it.

Any suggestions on this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Archive really has nothing to do with moving Outlook data from one drive to
another. Why not simply save a copy of your entire PST?

Also, I'm curious what this has to do with converting an Outlook 2003 PST to
Outlook 2000 format. Are you saying that you want your archive to be in
Outlook 2000 format? Perhaps the information here will help:
