Converting PP to DVD?

scooterspal,

My take on this is, there are currently 3 methods

1) as you've said - real time screen recording (needs a really beefy
machine)
2) programs that export to html and convert that to a dvd format (I've yet
to see one that works 100%)
3) wired - connect a dvd recorder to your PC's video out. (limited to the tv
out quality)

I was kinda hoping ppt 2007 would have this, as a new feature, on the file
menu > save in DVD format.

everything is discussed here

Hello to all:

Can anyone suggest a good program for converting PP to DVD? I have tried
a few "under $50" they all seem to be be recording in some kind of
real-time "screen capture. The result is jittery video, effects and
audio out of sync, slow transitions, etc. In short, nothing you can
actually use.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Dear:
If you want to burn PowerPoint presentations to DVD, just follow below steps:

Tools:
1. PPT2DVD free trial, 99$
Direct download: http://support.wondershare.com/stat/?action=down&id=1&sid=4
More Info : http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-dvd.html

2. a dvd burner

Steps:
1. launch PPT2DVD and import your PowerPoint presentation in PPT2DVD
2. select the needed configurations for your presentation
3. burn the converted file to DVD with PPT2DVD or third party tool such as
Nero

NOTE: pay attention to these features because they affect the final playing
results:
---norm: NTSC PAL
---video aspect: 1:1 4:3 16:9

About the animation and music
This program supports the conversion of most transitions, text animations,
graphics animations in PowerPoint Music can also be well preserved in sync
with the slides.
For better conversion results, it is recommended to add the music after
conversion with the" add background music " fearure in the program.

Hey John:

I gave this one a try and it seems to work very well. Does a screen
capture but far better that what I found with some others. Basically,
what you see on the screen is what you get on the DVD.

Make sure to turn off your graphics card acceleration if you get any
stuttering in the slide changes or transitions. I did this and it was as
smooth as the normal PP presentation.

Another feature I found especially important that was not on any other
program I read from the other replies is this one does not require that
you have any version of PP on your system. It will work with any PP
version.

It also burns direct to a DVD. Does not need Nero or some other program
after the fact. Nice!

Thanks!

I've done some more testing of this program...

First, changing the computer's screen resolution up or down
prior to the capture does not make any difference at all
in the final output quality. Also, by trying the program on several
computers I can find no change in output quality among different
graphics cards.

There is some loss of detail and some smearing of the chroma in colors.

Not sure how the "screen capture" process works but it seems to be
incidental of the actual screen display mechanism and must be grabbing
the data prior to entering the graphics card. That said, I would wonder
why the quality would not be higher than it is.

I'd say that, overall, the quality is probably acceptable for use on a
DVD and will certainly work for the internet as a flash file. It is
certainly easy to use and worth a try of the demo.

Thanks for the heads up on this.
