Converting pre 98 project documents

Does anyone know how I can convert MPP files which were
created in 1997?

Yes, Project 4.x (i.e. Project 97) files can be opened using Project 98.
If you know someone who has that version have them open the older files
for you. If you do not know anyone and you don't mind sending the files
over the internet, zip them and send them to me via e-mail. If they are
not corrupted, I will open them and convert them to Project 2000 and
send them back. Project 2000 files can be opened by any current version
of Project.
