Converting text to numerical values

I have down loaded a spread sheet using excel. Excel is reading the values
as nonnumerical values. How can I convert the numbers into numerical values
the computer can read so I can us the analysis features.

Hi,
you can use =trim(a1) to get rid of leading and trailing spaces. Cop
the result and paste special - values over the original data.
Make sure cell format is General or another number format. If that i
still text, enter a zero in a cell, copy the cell , select the number
stored as text and use paste special - Add

This usually works.

Format all to General.

Copy an empty cell.

Select the range to change and Edit>Paste Special>Add>OK>Esc.
