Converting Word 2003 Docs into .PDF File

C

Canadian 420

I work out of my home for several seafood businesses worldwide. I have
come up with a problem that I hope that can be answered here. I am
running Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Office 2008, IE7 all of which had a
fresh re-install back in November. Some companies that I deal with
require me to convert my Word, Invoices, Excel Workbooks, etc... To
a .PDF file before attaching to my Outlook Express as an attachment.
Do I need to buy this software? Is there perhaps an older version that
is free that I can download? I may do a lot of work seven days a week,
but live in a trailer, have dial-up, have teenage daughters, and not
too much in the way of disposable income. Please help me with any
suggestions or guide me on what version/software I need to buy. I live
in British Columbia, BC.

Sorry, it's late here, I meant that I am running "Microsoft Office
2003" Thanks again.

There are several low-cost and free PDF creating software programs available
on the web. You may find that they tie up your phoneline for some time
though because they tend to be large downloads. You might want to visit your
local office supply store and see what they have.

The free one that many recommend is PrimoPDF which is
available at
http://www.download.com/PrimoPDF/3000-10743_4-10264577.html?tag=lst-0-1
(a direct link from their web site at
http://www.primopdf.com/). The download is about 20 MB so
it will take some time to download. Recommend doing it at
night and you will have the install file ready in the
morning to install it onto your computer. The printer
driver that it creates does as good a job as the Adobe
driver that Acrobat creates.

For a free PDF viewer I recommend Foxit Reader from
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/ which is a small
download. Has the capability to use add-ons to enhance its
functions.

Hope this information helps.

Thank you LVTravel and JoAnn Paules. Very great information and thank
you for the tip regarding the large downloading time. I live in an
area that unfortunately does not have high speed or wireless
available. I know what my computer will be doing tonight :) Thanks
again, Joanne Black

I know exactly what you are talking about. Went many years
on dialup when almost the entire country was on broadband.
Even my work didn't go to BB until about 6 years ago.

Dial-up sucks so bad. I had BB for years and then moved to "the bush"
2 years ago. I pride myself on creating great looking docs,
letterheads, logo's, letters and the like. Many clients phone me from
various countries and dictate letters to me over my speaker phone
while I type them. If they could see my set up in a 21 foot travel
trailer, with an old computer, dial-up, teenagers, wild animals
entering whenever the door is left open, surrounded by nothing but
bush, perhaps they would pay me more! On the flip side, it's
beautiful, quiete, clean air, no neighbours and dirt cheap. It's like
permanent camping. Thanks again for your help and comments. Joanne :)
