Converting Word 2007 to Earlier version of Word

Hey Gang,

I have a co-worker that swears that there is a feature in Word 2007 that
allows you to convert to an earlier version of Word. He, of course, doesnt
remember how he did it. Is there any truth in this? I checked all of my
manuals and have found nothing. If so, how does a person do this?

Well, you're asking the *Mac* gang so this isn't a definitive answer, but
since I train on the use of 2007 it ought to be pretty close :)

If you mean reverting to the "Classic" interface there is no such option in
2007. You can save files in the earlier file format but you can't make Word
2007 into Word 2003.

There have been a number of haxies produced to get that effect, however. If
you're interested in pursuing those options you might search the PC Word
groups listed here:

Hi,

If you are asking if there is a way to tell Word 2007 to save in .doc
format instead of the newer .docx format, the answer is yes.

Tell your 2007 friend to click on the round decoration in the upper left
corner of Word (it's secretly a button). The Save As feature is there
and your friend will find an option to save in Word 97 through 2003
format (that's a bug since it should say 97 through 2004 format).
