converting word files to other types of files

Is it possible to easily convert microsoft word files to HL 7 file so we can
down load the word files in to our new electronic medical record. They want
to just scan in the record but since I have 2 years of electronic files it
seen a waste to me to print them and scan them in to the system

I am not an expert and I do not know HL 7 files but if pdf files are also
possible try open office (for free) and make pdf files.

(I am afraid this is a site for questions not for answers (I didn't get any
answer as so many others to my questions) so I wanted to help)

Hi Ken,

There isn't an export filter for that format from Word.
If the other application can read .doc, .RTF of .HTM
files it may be possible but I'd suspect you may have
better results with finding a 3rd party conversion software
package or to go with the scanning, for accuracy.

You may want to try the 'link serve' links on the
http://h7.org home page to see what others are doing.
There are a number of 3rd party products and companies
who specialize in that area.
