converting works files to word

Hello, I'm trying to convert some works files over to word (office XP). I've
tried installing the converter like the help file says, but it doesn't
convert it. All I get is scrambled garbage. Is there a program out there
that will convert it for me or at least a viewer so I can look at them? I
don't need to edit them, just print them.
