Converting WP files in Word 2003

I posted this once but my post is not longer on here, I have 3 PCs all
running Office 2003. 2 of the 3 PCs have no problems opening wordperfect
files and saving them as Word docs. The third system comes up asking what
file type the file is and after picking WordPerfect 6.x it comes up showing
scrambled text, line breaks and what looks to be code. Reinstalling Office on
this system has not changed the issue with WP files. I even tried doing a
complete install with all converters installed, yet still this computer is
not able to open wp 6.x files.
