I had thought that WinWord2002 (XP) could open Word 5 documents
natively. If not, in Word 5, try saving the document as an RTF version.

Even if word 5.0 is a little old, I believe Office 2004 should be able to
open it as it is. If not, open your documents ith office XP or 2003 on
windows and save them in a new directory. Now, they should open on a mac.

The other posters are correct: Word 2002 (Word XP) will open Word 5 for Mac
directly, and save in that format too (but don't let it...) When you get
the document open, let Word XP save it in its native format.

If your Win Office XP has been badly installed, the Word 5/6 converter may
not actually be installed. In which case, you may need to add the ".doc"
extension to the first document you try. If you do, that should trigger Win
Word to ask for the converter from the Supplementary Converters pack on your
CD.

Cheers
