copied file and now read only

I copied an mdb database from my home pc onto a floppy
disk and copied on a friend's computer. When he tried to
access the file, it only opens read only. The attribute
read only is not highlighted and the security options are
set to full use on both the original mdb and the copied
mdb. Even trying to open from the floppy on my friend's
new pc work in read only.

Could you possibly have had the file open at the time that you copied it
from your machine and so had a locking file (.ldb) present? If this is true
you would need to be sure to copy the locking file at the same time that you
copy the .mdb file.
