Copies of documents on my desktop

Andrew

Hello,

When I open web documents (such as PDFs), a copy of the document
automaticaly goes onto my desktop. I don't want to save these
documents to my desktop when I open them, I just want to view them.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Which application are you using to open the PDFs?

Andrew, are you talking about when you click on a link that would (in a
windows environment) just change to Adobe Reader within Internet Explorer,
but on the Mac actually opens Reader as a separate application?

This has always been my experience, and I have never even given though to
the resulting file on the desktop. I have always just trashed it later. It
would be nice to have the option to not have it downloaded on the desktop.

Also for the sake of others who might know a solution, it would be good to
know the versions of programs in question, i.e. Browser, Office app you are
talking about. If it's not an Office app, then it might be more appropriate
to post this in the microsoft.public.mac.otherproducts.
