coping files to disc NOT read only

I have tried to move some word documents onto a CD-R disc but they copy as
read-only files. I have tried to change the properties but it doesn't work.
Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change to have the document copy
normally?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

All files on CD-R are always read-only because of the way CD-R works. You may be
able to save to CD-RW (that is, erasable CD) as a read-write file -- but don't
do it! Writing directly from Word to any kind of removable media risks
corrupting the document and making it unusable.

Instead, always work on the documents on the hard drive, and always copy the
files to and from the CD by using Windows Explorer or some other file manager.
If you copy from a CD-R to the hard drive, you'll usually have to go into its
Properties dialog on the hard drive and uncheck its read-only box to make it
editable.

All files stored on CD media is read only on the CD. To edit you must copy to
your local hard drive, edit and save to back to the hard drive. Then you can
reburn the file back to the CD
