'Copy:' added to calendar entries

Andy W

Hi

I exported my Outlook 2007 calendar to a pst file. Now, when I try to
import it (In 2007 or 2003) over half the entries have 'Copy:' added to the
start of the entry.

As there is no global 'find and replace' I currently need to edit over 1,000
entries.

Please can anyone advise how to prevent the word being added on import OR
how to remove it more efficiently?

Many thanks in advance of your help,

Andy

Copy is automatically added by outlook 2007 SP2 when you create a copy of an
appointment that is in a shared calendar. From the release notes:
A meeting that is copied from a shared calendar does not indicate that it is
a copy. SP2 adds "Copy:" to the subject line.

Why are you using import/export? Just open the pst in the profile and move
(or copy) the items to the default pst.

Many thanks for your help and explanation. I think I now feel like the man
who asked directions and was told 'I wouldn't start from here' !

I exported the calendar to a pst thinking from my Exchange account thinking
this would make a perfect back-up. On reinstalling it after losing the
original calendar, it added 'Copy:' to most of the entries.

I have tried using 'File | Open', but this just opens a 'Personal Folder'
entry and the calendar can not be seen.

For future, reference, how should I back up the calendar so that it can be
reinstated without 'copy:' being added?

Many thanks

Andy - looking forward to a night of editing....

We recommend adding a new pst and copying the items to the new pst (create a
new calendar folder, then use the By category view on the old calendar,
select all, edit, copy to folder...). Because it’s a default folder you can
drag the Exchange calendar to the pst and outlook will whine that you can
move the default folder and will create a copy for you.

To move appointments back, repeat the process - by category view, edit, copy
to folder.

In my experience, meetings/meeting requests are the only items marked with
Copy.
