Copy Address Book

Decreenisi

Hi I have XP running with MS Outlook Express 6. I need to do some house
keeping, so want to reformat the hard drive. Can anyone tell me how I
can copy my address book, and put it back afterwards. Like wise with
any emails I need to keep.

Thanks in advance.

You might try Windows XP's native F.A.S.T. utility. It's designed expressly for
this purpose. See this link for a comprehensive discussion and how-to-use it,
even as a backup:

Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

Here's the MSKB article on this subject:

HOW TO: Use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP

Be aware that passwords will not make the trip...that's by design.

You will be better served by posting your Outlook Express questions to a more
relevant newsgroup, such as this one:

...or access via the web-based equivalent.

I use the export function and export to a pst file. Then I save the pst file
on a disk. After you have reformatted and reinstalled everything then you
can just import the pst file back into Outlook.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't help a bit and is bad advice. Never export and import PST files.
Just copy PST files and open them in another installation.
