Copy and paste adds unwanted lines

When text is copied and pasted from one document to
another it inserts unwanted lines in the document. These
lines are unable to be deleted. What would cause this
and can it be gotten rid of?

By "lines" do you mean extra space ("blank lines") or actual lines like
borders, underlines, drawing lines, etc.?
