copy and paste format styles from doc to doc

G

Gina and Ros

We have a standard formated document that is uploaded to an EDMS program,
that will not take templates. So we can not created a template.

We would like to copy exiting document with various formating to our new
standard document. So far this has not been possible. We have used fomat
painter with bizzare results.

We used control+shift+C and Control+shift+V.

We did tried attaching a new template to an existing document, by saving the
doc file as a dot. "Didn't work" .

We tried using the style organizer - and copy styles. (didn't work)

We are not trying to find help in user groups. Is what we are trying to do
possible.

Thanks Gina & Roslyn

First: the template is used to format your original document; but having
done so, your document is not reliant on the template as such. So it should
make no different to the EDMS program.

If the style organizer hasn't worked for you, that suggests that you have
formatted your document manually -- applying font changes etc directly from
the format menu or toolbar, rather than applying the styles defined for your
document. If you have created the document this way then indeed there is no
easy way to do what you want. Go back and format the document properly using
styles. Then use the Organizer.
