Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi,

I'm "selecting all" and "copying" from one document and need to "paste" into a 2nd document. But when I paste into the 2nd document the text is not formatted - all the lines are jumbled up together. Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

I need a bit more detail to be able to answer this:
* Are both documents Word documents?
* Which file format?
* What do the documents contain?
* How were they formatted?
* What are the names of the styles they are formatted with?

Cheers

Hi John, Let me try and answer your questions:

Are both documents Word documents? YES

Which file format? .DOC

What do the documents contain? TEXT AND BULLETS

How were they formatted? Sorry don't understand/know?

What are the names of the styles they are formatted with? Specific font types, bullets and spacing - again sorry does that answer this question?

Thanks!

PS: To give you a more full description. I've written an ebook and I've written each chapter separately. I am now trying to combine them all without having to form each chapter once pasting it into the master document. I will have a few images in the document too, thank you.

As a result of your former answers, I can now tell you that the formatting
you are seeing is being set by the style in the destination document.

So look up Styles in the Word Help, so you understand how to use them, then
investigate the formatting settings of the styles that are in use in your
destination.

You also need to ensure that you have not applied direct formatting over the
top of the styles. Sometimes, it is worth selecting the pasted text and
using Edit>Clear>Clear Formatting. That returns the format to Normal style,
from which you can then re-apply the correct styles to produce the proper
formatting.

Hope this helps
