Copy and paste not working from PowerPoint to Flash

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I am a Flash developer, the majority of my content is delivered as a PowerPoint storyboard. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard when I copy some text to paste into Flash the text will appear as a bitmap rather than text. I have been using PowerPoint and Flash for many years and this has never been an issue.

Any ideas? The current ppt file I am pasting from is a pptx file and I am using Perian to open the file format in my version of PowerPoint .

At present I am having to open the powerpoint file in Keynote in order to stop this from happening but this is not ideal.

Thanks

Kai

Here's what's probably causing the problem:

The new file format (PPTX) and the PPT versions that support it allow
for a lot of new text effects that simply aren't possible in PPT 2004
and earlier.

In order to retain backward compatibility, PPTX to PPT file converters
(basically any process that allows you to open PPTX in 2004) convert
these effects into bitmaps. Microsoft's goal here was to preserve
visual fidelity, even if that came at the expense of editability, when
moving from the newer format to the older. Makes sense, really, but
can have some startling side effects, as you've seen.

If you can get the person who creaetd the PPTX to remove any non-
compatible text effects (soft shadows, glows, 3d, whatever) and save to
a new file, the text SHOULD remain editable for you.

I recall seeing similar reports with several of the Adobe products & it was
an acknowledged problem on their end. It was my impression, however, that
the issue had been addressed across the board. Make certain that your Flash
app (as well as Office & OS X) is fully updated, although it also could be a
matter of which version of Flash you're using.

I'm using Flash CS4 which is fully updated, although it is acting in a rather peculiar manner so I may just try re-installing it.
