copy and paste problems with Word 2004

Hi,
When We open a .doc with images inserted in it, ( say about 10 -
jpegs and or tiff's ) the size of the doc's range from 20 megs to 200
megs, We copy the doc and than open a new doc and paste. Then as you
scroll down the doc the images are just blank squares. We have
selected display images in pref's. Also we use EndNote for citations
and found some problems in the past with Red X's in images in doc's,
The Fix was to remove the add ins for EndNote in the startup folder
for Word. At a loss here!
Thanks

Not sure why you're doing this in the first place - If you want another copy
of the first doc, why not just do a File> Save As or Duplicate the file in a
Finder window?

Then as you scroll down the doc the images are just blank squares. We have
selected display images in pref's.

I'm not aware of any preference in Word for "Display Images". In Word>
Preferences> View the settings to be concerned with are:

Drawings = checked
Image Placeholders = unchecked

I take it this is just "background" info as it has no bearing on the current
situation:)... The red x typically indicates that the image was linked and
the image can't be found or that the image is of a type that can't be
displayed. Sounds like those were files created on a Windows system and
opened on a Mac.

Thanks
