Copy bookmarks

I am a problem with copting bookmark (keep the location of them)

I have an access database with does a mail merge to Word Template
(this works)

but a added bookmarks to the document with i want to copy over and
keep the location of.

I have another VB app that reads the bookmarks locations to insert
text (different paragraphs define by the user)

the VB app work and does the job when i manually place the bookmarks
in the merged document.

I have tried to re-copy the bookmarks from the VB app using the
orginal template as the source, but after the mail the document can be
a different the location for the bookmarks do not match the template
locations.

So there a way to keep the bookmark location during the mail merge
from the access to word?

any help / idea here would be great
