copy custom settings from laptop to desktop

P

Pablo

hello:

I have Excel at my office customized to how I like it. Menu bars, tool
bars, macro buttons, all in my customized locations.

However, my computer at home is not like this and when I use Excel at
home it's always an inefficient process.

How can I copy all my custom settings from my laptop to my desktop?

Thanks!

Pablo,

Look for a file called Excel.xlb, and copy that over. If there is a
Personal.xls and/or a Book.xlt in the XLStart directory, you might want to
take those as well.

I like Bob's answer if you're running the same version of excel in both spots.

I'm not sure I'd share the toolbar between versions.

I like to create dummy files (*.xlb, personal.xls) and then use
windows start button|Find (or Search) to look for them.

Then I plop my "real" versions into those locations.

And in Office XP, you can use the "save my settings wizard" to save to a file or
to a secure location on the MS site.
I found it under windows start button|programs|MS Office XP Tools.

(I've never used it to transfer between pc's, but it might be worth a try.)
