copy data from excel into word doc

I know this can be done, I just can't figure out how.
I have a speadsheet with prices on it.

I want to make a Word doc the will automatically take prices from
cells on the spreadsheet when I open the Document.
How can this be done?

Yes, that task can be accomplished very easily. Open the Excel
spreadsheet and then open the Word document. Place your cursor on the
spot that you want the calculation to appear in the document, now go to
the spreadsheet and highlight the cell and copy to clipboard, return to
the Word document and click on Edit, Copy Special, click "Paste
link" radio button, select "Formatted Text (PTF) from the list and
click OK, calculation should appear and should be shaded in gray, save
both documents. Now every time you open the document, it will give you
a pop-up message box that reads "This document contains one or more
links to other files. Do you want to update this document with the
data from the linked files?" Click on Yes and poof what ever
calculation is in the spreadsheet it will populate in that exact place.
